A friend recommended Pig Destroyer and made me go to a show with him at the Ottobar in Baltimore. I went to bandcamp and streamed all their albums whenever I got a chance before the show. Ever since I found Pig Destroyer on bandcamp, I couldn't stop listening to them. My friend loaned me his Pig Destroyer CDs and I put all of them in my car 6-CD player. Naturally they hogged up the whole CD. I had to take out Godflesh, Slayer, Black Cobra, and Napalm Death. After the show I didn't listen to them for a couple months. Now, I'm back listening to them and I can't stop.Just now, I bought all their CDs on Amazon. It cost me almost $80. I'm not going to be able to eat for a week or bring my kid to McD's.Book Burner is fast and ferocious music with an incredible guitarist and a drummer, Jarvis (from Misery Index), that seems to have grasped Pig Destroyer's style very well. The guitarist, Scott Hull, is effing phenomenal.Book Burner I think is the best Scott Hull has played. While I think Phantom Limb and Terrifyer are amazing works, Book Burner really showcases his ability and style. One of the things I like about Book Burner is the fact that they brought in guest vocalist Kat for the song, Eve. This is one of my favorite songs on the CD. It's just too damn short! Hypocritically, I like the short, in your face, blast that each song brings. Each song is a loud statement and lyrically some of them are a little bit of a puzzle to figure out the meaning. The CD starter, Sis, may be the best song on the CD, but I may be corrected by the wiser Pig Destroyer fans. Also up there are Baltimore Strangler, which lyrically is clever, White Lady, and Kamikaze Heart. All in all, this is one of the best albums in a long time, put out by dedicated, hard-working people. Pig Destroyer has quickly become one of my top shelf bands.Every chance I get I'm playing a Pig Destroyer CD.My only complaint is there's not enough songs and they don't tour enough, but I do understand why (they have jobs and family). And my volume only goes up to 10. I don't have an 11 like in Spinal Tap, which further frustrates me.Lastly, I was reading John Dies at the End and realized Pig Destroyer is the perfect foreground music while reading this book. Unfortunately, the book ended but the music continued. I can't take much more discontinuity.I'm going to have to read John Dies again while playing Pig Destroyer again, further alienating me from everyone I know.Pig Destroyer is awesome.Click off this page while you can before it's too late and don't read John Dies unless you want your mind rewired.
