At first one may think...Martini Book....how can you go wrong? But am sure we have all judged by the cover and then been disappointed later. This really is a cool book. First is looks very nice and classy sitting on a table. I have mine on my liquor cabinet which is actually more of a dining room style buffet that I have near my kitchen and for which I store alcohol, have a wine rack next to it and some barware on top of it. It is also black and this book looks nice on display and this makes it easy access instead of searching in a drawer. Having it out can also lead to curiosity when someone comes over so they can look too! It starts off w/a brief history of the martini, lists famous people who were martini drinkers, tells one what tools are needed to set up the bar to make martinis, discusses shakers, etc. This is nice and brief, yet valuable, information and comes in easy to read print w/ visually appealing full color pictures. Lots of nice, fun trivia. Then it gets into the recipes also w/nice colorful pictures. Unlike just opening a bottle of wine and pouring (also a good treat!), I find that there is often something lost when one tries to recreate in their own kitchen that good martini that they had when they were out. This book helps give the correct proportions of ingredients and takes the guess work out of it. How fun!
