The beauty of Matthew Welton's poetry lies in the lazy Sunday morning atmospheres he creates. You read these poems and you can feel yourself pottering around with shafts of sunlight pouring through the dusty windows, the coffee brewing, and life happily drifting by. I have absolutely no idea how the previous reviewer can attack his talent. This is by far my favourite contemporary poet and buying this book (5 years ago now) was one of the best choices I ever made. I love to dip into it, rarely is reading poetry such an utterly relaxing and enjoyable pursuit. I have happily spent time committing three of these poems to memory, purely because they are so lovely when they effortlessly roll off the tongue. Lovely.
