Timothy Botts was featured in our local newspaper as a master calligrapher. As it happens the very evening the article was in the newspaper, I attended the first planning session for our church women's retreat. The presenter was talking about her program for the weekend and began talking about this master calligrapher whose powerful imagery she was intending to use in her program. I knew right away it must be Timothy Botts and, indeed, it was. As soon as I returned home I ordered two copies of The Book of Psalms; one to keep and one to give to a friend. One must see it in person to appreciate the written word portrayed through Timothy's pen. At one turn of the page there is the powerful illustration of Psalm 46:10-11. Complete despair in Psalm 38 is fully revealed in Timothy's art (he explains why he penned the work in the manner depicted). He ends the book with a bang, quite literally, with Psalm 150. I have never witnessed such a noisy work of art, but it sings to me!
