The Guest Book is a chilling and atmospheric tale that follows newlyweds Charles and Grace, bound for their honeymoon. Things take a turn when bad weather thwarts their plans and they are forced to retreat to the seaside town of Saltwater and its only vacant guesthouse, The Anchorage. My first impression of this book, is that everything ticked all the boxes for me after being drawn to it by its ominous cover then its premise. Any book that has a setting in a seaside town with a sinister haunting story, unreliable narrators and a bit of the supernatural thrown in is always a big plus for me.When I got stuck in to reading the story though, I found it to move at a slightly slower pace than I normally like but, it still held my attention and my interest. C.L. Pattison weaves a tale that is dark, creepy and has a lot of promise but, I did find it missed the mark on some things and felt the ending was a bit rushed. In saying all that though, it is still entertaining, enjoyable and worth a read.
